Everybody says this. Here is exactly what it means at Piggy, in both directions.
These are all standard practice somewhere in this county. None of them are here.
Earl Piggott started this company in 1987 out of a single Ford van with his name hand-painted on the door. The joke wrote itself, and Earl — who never once minded being the punchline — leaned all the way in.
His daughter Marnie Piggott came up through the trade the long way: apprentice at nineteen, journeyman at twenty-three, master plumber at twenty-eight. She took over the business in 2014 and still runs a truck two days a week, because she says you stop understanding the job the day you stop doing it.
In the pipeline trade, a "pig" is a real device — a plug sent through a line under pressure to scrape it clean from the inside. Pipeline crews have been "pigging" lines since the 1870s. Earl found that out about a year after he named the company, and has been telling people ever since that he planned it.
Supply line let go under the kitchen sink at 11:40 on a Sunday night. Someone answered on the second ring, walked me through finding the shutoff while I was standing in it, and had a tech at the house by 12:50. The Monday-morning price was the same as the Sunday-night price, which I still don't quite believe.
Two other outfits quoted me a full sewer line replacement, sight unseen. Piggy ran a camera first, showed me the recording, and found one root intrusion about eleven feet out. They cut it, jetted the line, and charged me a fraction of a replacement. That camera footage saved me five figures.
Whole-house repipe, 1960s galvanized, three bathrooms. Nine days, and I had water every single night. They patched and textured the drywall so well my painter asked which rooms they'd actually been in. Marnie herself showed up twice to check on it.
Twelve trucks staged across the county, so the closest one comes — not whichever one happens to be free. Most addresses inside the county line see a truck within ninety minutes on an emergency call.
We'll confirm by text within 15 minutes during business hours, and we'll give you a two-hour arrival window — not "sometime Tuesday."
Water actively running where it shouldn't be, no hot water in winter, or any smell of gas — don't fill out a form. Call, and shut off the main if you can.
We'll text you within 15 minutes with a two-hour arrival window.
If it's turned urgent since you hit send, call (800) 225-5744.
An actual person, in Cedar Hollow, on a rotating overnight shift. Not an answering service and not a call center in another time zone. They can see the truck board, so when they tell you someone's forty minutes out, they're looking at where that truck is.
Every common repair has a fixed price in our book. The tech diagnoses the problem, looks up the repair, and shows you that price on a tablet before touching anything. You approve it or you don't.
The practical difference: if the job takes twice as long as expected, that's our problem, not your invoice. The only time the number changes is if we open something up and find a genuinely different problem — and then we stop and re-quote before continuing.
On a true emergency, most addresses in Harlan County see a truck within ninety minutes. For non-emergencies we hold same-day slots on most weekdays, and we'll give you a two-hour arrival window rather than a whole day.
No. A Sunday at midnight costs what a Tuesday at ten costs. We pay the overnight crew a shift premium out of our margin, because charging people more at the exact moment they're most desperate is a choice, and we'd rather not make it.
Yes — 0% for 12 months on jobs over $1,500, on approved credit, with longer terms available at standard rates. Application takes about four minutes on the tech's tablet and you'll have an answer before they leave.
Because the founder's name is Earl Piggott and he decided to get ahead of it.
The happier accident is that "pig" is a genuine term in the trade — a plug driven through a pipeline under pressure to scrub it clean from the inside. Crews have been pigging lines since the 1870s. Earl maintains he knew that all along. His daughter maintains he did not.
Flat-rate pricing, a real person on the phone, and a floor left cleaner than we found it.
